About Committee

You can derive from the name itself that this committee, based in the future with its very own timeline, is set to be a thriller. NATO is undoubtedly the world’s strongest military alliance and it has always taken pride in the immense cohesion between the member nations. Formed as a deterrent to Russian threat in Europe and Asia during the Cold War Era, the NATO has been tested yet again for the past year with Russia’s unprecedented invasion of Ukraine. The situation has not only alerted the NATO nations, but also challenged the solidarity amongst them.

Take a leap to 2026 and delegates find themselves in a surprisingly different scenario. The NATO faces challenges from neither the eastern nor the southern front but from the heart or the crux which forms it. The unity of the NATO has been stretched to its furthest and is about to collapse as the organization assembles for what may ever be their last meeting in history. We shall see strategic failures by Joe Biden, crucial changes in governments, damaging and repairing of relations, and forming of alliances within the NATO. The repercussions of the Russia Ukraine war come into play and the NATO budget reaches an all time low.

It’s up to the delegates now to try and resolve this matter without further damage. Delegates must be quick on their feet as the committee is expected to be fast paced. After two heavy days of discussion, we expect a peaceful conclusion on the third day. Yet, delegates could expect things to go south if none are willing to cooperate. Foreign policy is of prime importance in such a committee and we expect delegates to be well researched with their nations stances. They must be well equipped to deal with changes in policy and allegiances.

Being the only futuristic committee in this conference, one could expect the NATO would be extremely exciting and a spectacle of energy.

Chairpersons' Address

Greetings Delegates,
I hope you all are ready to have the time of your lives. Time - nothing arouses more curiosity than time. Time is breathtaking, flabbergasting and stupefying. It’s fancier than the words I just used, more mysterious than the last book you read or movie you watched, and yet as unknown as my physics concepts are to me. But, now’s no time to mourn. Now’s no time at all (I hope some Marvel fans are reading this). Today, we grant you the time stone and before entering committee you must swear an oath to protect it.
The future lies in our hands, though it’s mostly yours. Even though a split in the NATO is no sign of a bright future, we at LMCMUN can guarantee one for you. As chairpersons, we assure you that this shall be the most exciting, enthusiastic, and fun filled committee you have ever been to. The committee shall offer perfect balance between debate and paperwork, challenge you to think spontaneously, and compel you to showcase your lobbying. The chairpersons definitely recognise the essence of time and we are ready to make memories. In case you aren’t, I’m sure you will be after you check the timeline.
Gurmehr Singh Bindra is a passionate golfer and an aggressive public speaker. Although he spends the entire day on the golf course, he somehow manages to do more productive work and be more social than all his batch mates combined. Despite having achieved so much, you will never fail to find him cribbing about how he’s wasting his life. If you ever spot a 6 foot 3 inch tall boy who manages to multiply 3 digit numbers in his head, you know it’s Gurmehr.
Siddhant Tapdiya is an extremely intellectual student which is reflected in his public speaking as well. Proficient in both English and Hindi, Siddhant is a natural and talented debater. Apart from that, he’s highly philosophical and spiritual as he strives for discipline. He is as focused as they get, and there is not one goal he fails to accomplish. He would be best characterized as smart, delicate, and loveable.
Depending on how eager you are, you may be reading this a few months before the conference or just a day in advance. Let’s patiently allow time to pass before we meet soon.

Until May,
Gurmehr Singh Bindra & Siddhant Tapdiya,
Chairpersons,
Futuristic NATO, 2026,
La Martiniere Calcutta Model United Nations, 2023.
