About Committee

The Joint Crisis Committee (JCC) is a specialized committee set in July 1940, which comprises two cabinets- Winston Churchill’s Cabinet and The Tripartite Summit (which is composed of representatives from Germany, Italy and Japan).

As we know, Europe was engulfed by tumult and terror in this period of history. The hostilities in Europe reached their climax in 1940, when Germany, led by Adolf Hitler, launched a direct attack on England, which came to be called ‘The London Blitz’.

Catalyzed by communiques, the committee serves as a precursor to the disastrous Blitzkrieg orchestrated by Germany and simulates the simmering feeling of bitterness shared by both cabinets, on opposite sides of the conflict. Both cabinets will share the same timeline, and will, therefore, be acting against one-another.

The committee also precedes the formation of the United Nations in a period of time where the League of Nations showcased its inability to take effective action. Therefore, in the absence of an effective international organization, delegates will have to showcase their diplomatic and strategic abilities in order to steer the committee to a befitting end.

Chairpersons' Address

Greetings Delegates,

A rollercoaster ride is often one of the most enjoyable experiences. It has its ups and downs.  A sigh of relief is often followed by a shriek of disbelief.  We may languish at the bottom, but then be catapulted to the top in a matter of a few seconds. It is our privilege to invite you to this rollercoaster-like whirlwind experience at the Joint Crisis Committee being simulated at LMCMUN 2023.

This committee will be home to fast-paced debate, pragmatic solutions and astute paperwork. Like in a game of chess, each side will attempt to strategically dismantle the hopes and ambitions of the other. Being one step ahead is key, and that is where the true mettle of the delegates is tested. It is up to you, the delegates, to ensure that your side emerges victorious.

Devya Khemka is a simple man. The archetypal uncle, Devya’s knowledge of computers and modern technology is as outdated as his laptop itself. A hearty Ferrari fan, Devya is depressed 22/52 weekends a year. Apart from sports, Devya also has a keenness for economics and business. Our resident strongman, Devya lives in the gym and prides himself on being able to deadlift 150 kg. You can count on him to be the most practical, level-headed man in any room.

Jaiveer Singh Madan defines the term overachiever. It is tough to gauge whether his brain is filled with Taylor Swift lyrics or academic knowledge. Right when you are convinced that all he does is study, you find him winning MUNs, Business Conclaves and Debates. Amidst his numerous achievements, getting rid of his obsession over commas is the one he’s most proud of. He is also the Deputy Secretary-General and is considering sleep as a profession.

The pair will also be serving as the chairpersons of Winston Churchill’s Cabinet.

Aditya Vikram Sinha is a 12th grade science student. He is a programming nerd and a know-it-all except for in sports. Give him a problem and watch him ponder on it for days. He prefers expressing his emotions through Rachmaninoff, Chopin and Liszt. Aditya never wastes a chance to plug in his best delegate streak, which is the longest in our batch. With the hopes of becoming an IITian and an IAS officer, he works himself to death. A one man army, we can always count on him.

Soham Bhar is a pendulum oscillating between sleep deprivation and hibernation, and barely studying to only studying. This perhaps sums up his love for physics, which he hopes to pursue in college and his ardent advocacy for extremes, in whatever context that may be. An extensive practitioner of both deep conversations and eerie inside jokes, his list of achievements run long, although having the best pull-up in the Secretariat is probably what matters the most to him.

The pair will serve as chairpersons of the Tripartite Summit.

All in all, the committee can expect a joyful (and tumultuous) ride in these war-stricken 1940’s cabinets.

Until May,

Devya Khemka & Jaiveer Singh Madan,

Chairpersons,

Winston Churchill’s Cabinet,

Aditya Vikram Sinha & Soham Bhar,
